Gladbach finished 16th in the top flight with 36 points and will face Friedhelm Funkel's Bochum side, who were third in the second division, over two legs with the prize at stake a place in next season's Bundesliga.
Reus, who last week earned a call-up to the full Germany squad, told Bild: "Bochum are strong, but we are better. We have the better individual players and will prevail.
"We have had pressure for the whole second half of the season. Almost every game was a final, so the relegation play-off is no different.''
Former Hertha Berlin boss Funkel admitted his side enter the play-off as underdogs but believes they could upset the odds.
